While it may be easy to just run to the nearest grocery store and drop anywhere from five to ten dollars on a sweet and syrupy salad dressing, you don’t have to. It’s actually just as easy to save the cash by making homemade dressing, and you can use the sugar you saved by not buying a brand and expend that on some brownies later.
This dressing is made with miso paste, the same condiment Japanese restaurants use in soup. The miso paste and ginger add an Asian flavor to any salad, and the orange juice adds a sweet citrus-y taste that goes well with avocado and dark greens, like arugula and spinach. Try this dressing once and it’s bound to be a staple on your salad.
Citrus Ginger Miso Dressing

- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon miso paste
- 1 tablespoon orange Juice
- 2 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon pomegranate syrup (optional)
In a bowl, combine the ingredients. Whisk to combine, and pour over your next salad.
