With Jack Frost on the way, frigid weather and runny noses are knocking on our door. Nothing sounds better than a warm cup of soup to soothe our sore throats, but where can Grand Valley students find some quality tasting soup?

The Fresh Food Company at GVSU has had its share of critics over the years, but with a revamped menu and new decor, Fresh is making a comeback. With soups and chilies that rotate daily, here are the top 3 soups at the Fresh Food Co.

1. Black Bean Soup

Black beans, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, celery, garlic and a hint of cumin simmered in a vegetable broth; this concoction is a vegetarian and vegan delight. With a consistency closer to chili than an actual soup, this revamped recipe has made quite a few changes since its 2015 predecessor. Adding cumin to the original recipe, Fresh's black bean soup gives students a new twist on a season favorite.

#SpoonTip: If you are looking to dress up your soup with some shredded cheese or maybe some bacon bits (for those who aren't vegetarian) check out the salad bar. There you can find numerous toppings to make your soup even more exquisite.

#SpoonTip: If you're anything like me, you can't have a bowl of soup without a fresh baked bread roll (or a dozen bread rolls) to dip it into. Luckily, Fresh offers exactly that. Right around the corner from the soups, you'll find an entire tray filled with delicious dinner rolls.

3. Vegetable Soup with Brown Rice
