Krankies is a popular coffee spot in Winston-Salem for a good reason: it has amazing coffee. It’s also been a great place to study because of its spacious feel and relaxed atmosphere, but Krankies has undergone some big changes recently. The question is: what’s different?

There has always been an option to grab some homemade baked goods at the coffee counter, but one of the biggest changes is that Krankies is now not only a coffee shop; it has a kitchen and offers different food menus during the day. You can get breakfast, lunch, and even brunch in it’s renovated space, including options like homemade biscuits and avocado toast (they also offer a full bar for those 21 and over).

In other news: in addition to their usual music events, they now have different food and drink specials and deals depending on the day. For example, Tuesdays are Taco and Margarita night, and there’s an Oyster Happy Hour on Fridays!

A member of the Krankies staff will now bring your food to your table after you order at the counter, giving it the feel of a cafe or restaurant rather than a coffee shop. There are plenty of places to sit, but one of the concerns for local students is that many of the computer outlets were removed. This can make it hard to spend some serious extended time studying.

But honestly, with coffee and food this good, you should be coming here in your free time regardless of studying! And besides, there’s plenty of space still available to sit with your laptop for a few hours with a nice cup of coffee. It’s the perfect spot for relaxing with a cup of some of the best coffee in town.
