One chilly (and by chilly I mean freezing) evening in New York City, my friend and I were craving some Mexican food. Tacos, rice, chips, guac the whole enchilada (pun intended). I have seen and heard about Dos Caminos in the past, and suggested we go try it out. We were starving, so anything sounded good at that point. If you don’t live under a rock, you probably know that dining out in New York City isn’t always the cheapest, but Dos Caminos’ menu was reasonably priced for what it was offering. If you’re looking for a super cheap meal I wouldn’t suggest it, but if you’re willing to spend a few extra bucks for some quality Mexican food then definitely hit this place up.

My stomach was growling by the time we got off the subway and reached the restaurant. Once we walked in, we were seated almost immediately, which already made me love this place because no one likes to wait a long time for a table. The room was spacious and gave us the right amount of spacing between the people next to us (another reason to love it here).

For $14 we ordered chips and guacamole along with a trio of salsas such as tomatillo salsa, roasted tomato chile de arbol salsa and a habanero salsa, which were literally the most amazing salsas I have ever eaten, ever. The best part is, if you don’t feel like paying $14 for the guacamole, you can order the chips and salsas for only $4. But you definitely want the guac so don’t do that. For our main meal, my friend ordered the pork tacos, and I ordered the vegetable tacos filled with roasted butternut squash, corn, and yes, more avocado. One order comes with three tacos and a side of rice and beans and depending on what you get they range from about $15 to $20.

Overall, the feel from the restaurant was casual yet fun, and the food was just as delicious. If you’re ever craving Mexican food, head to Dos Caminos, and you’ll leave feeling satisfied, happy and definitely not disappointed.
