Ever wonder where Lechmere takes you on the T’s Green Line? It takes you to a delicious fast-casual place called Tahaza Hummus Kitchen, that’s where. I was stoked to learn there was a restaurant dedicated to a food I firmly believe should be its own food group, hummus.
This bright and airy spot offers a menu that revolves around a selection of house-made hummus. After choosing which hummus you want, it’s time to build your own meal by choosing from their selection of meats, vegetables, dressings and, of course, signature falafels.
They were recently rated by Zagat as one of the best new lunch spots in the Boston area, and I can see why. Tahaza Hummus Kitchen is friendly to plant-based and gluten free eaters alike. Everything is incredibly fresh, your meal is served up on compostables, and the staff is both friendly and accommodating.
As the devout vegetable enthusiast that I am, I was in awe of all their offerings. Above is an original hummus bowl with mushroom medley in place of meat, pickled carrots, beets, cucumber, lemon for dressing and a side of carrot sticks.
My meal rang up to $9.25 total, which is no more expensive than any other lunch in Boston. Their quality can’t be beat, though. The area around Tahaza Hummus Kitchen is currently undergoing a bit of renovation, so it appears a bit hidden at first.
