Ever go to a new restaurant, take one look at the menu and have no idea what to order? A lot of this curiosity about trying new foods ended for me at A Taste of the 'Ville, an event that featured Aggieville restaurants on June 10.

This event was sponsored by the Philanthropic Education Organization (PEO), and all of the proceeds were donated to support higher education for women.

Out of the 16 different restaurants that another Spoonie and I walked around to, I was very thankful for what I would consider the "comfort foods" of the day.

Even though it was a warm day, the chili that Kite's Bar and Grill was serving was a food item one doesn't often think about when they hear "bar and grill." Bluestem Bistro featured the spinach and artichoke dip on the menu, and Fuzzy's Taco Shop had a creamy queso dip.

Other great comfort foods were the sandwiches that were featured at the several sandwich shops in Aggieville. Pepperjax Grill featured their famous philly cheesesteak sandwich, while the Pita Pit offered their delicious veggie falafel for sampling.

Subway was also another sandwich shop during the event where we stopped and sampled their original turkey and ham sandwiches, and Varsity Donuts featured a few of their sugar donuts.

A Taste of the 'Ville could not have been planned for a day with more perfect weather. These "berry" tasty fruit smoothies were featured at Radina's Coffeehouse and Roastery.

Another cold and refreshing treat that we got to sample was the different flavors of ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery – talk about delicious.

Aside from chain restaurants or coffeehouses in Aggieville, there are also several different places to go to eat with very interesting dishes. The Dancing Ganesha, an Indian restaurant, featured one of their desserts: a piece of fried bread soaked in a sweet broth.

Wahoo! Fire & Ice featured a chicken and rice dish. This Mediterranean-themed grill has a lot of traditional foods, as well as dishes that add spice to the Aggieville scene.

A Taste of the 'Ville was definitely an event that helped travelers, students and community members get to sample foods from restaurants in Aggieville that they either love or haven't got a chance to eat at.
