After a crazy night at mid, the only way to cure your hangover is brunch. Surprisingly so, Gainesville has a ton of hidden gems when it comes to brunchin’. Whether you want a quick bagel sandwich or fancy Benedicts, our local eateries won’t disappoint. Don’t believe me? Scroll down and see for yourself. I guarantee you’ll be trying The Flying Biscuit tomorrow morning.
1. Civilization
At Civilization, you’ll get the prettiest breakfast you’ve ever received–instaworthy for sure–accompanied by their famous avocado spread and toasted whole wheat bread. From perfectly poached eggs to challah french toast, you’ll leave this diner more than satisfied.
2. Bagels and Noodles
Bagels and Noodles is probably the most underrated breakfast place in all of Gainesville. They serve, as you might guess, bagels and noodles (well, soup). Though these bagels are not quite on the same level as New York bagels, they’re still pretty damn good.
Besides their bagels and noodles, they serve up some ridiculously cheesy, melt in your mouth omelettes. If you want fast service and the closest to a New York bagel you’ll ever get in Florida, make sure to give this place a shot.
3. Peach Valley Cafe
The Peach Valley Cafe will definitely remind you of those Sunday morning brunches you had with your family back home. Their most notable breakfast foods are their Belgian Waffles and Cinnamon Roll Pancakes. Best part–basically every meal comes with a side of brown sugar.
4. The Flying Biscuit
Mostly known for their scrambled, poached, or sunny side-up eggs, and, of course, their biscuits, The Flying Biscuit is the perfect place for breakfast if you aren’t looking for anything fancy.
5. East End Eatery
East End Eatery, like The Flying Biscuit, is another quick and relaxed breakfast place filled with an assortment of omelettes, pancakes, waffles, and pretty much any other brunch food you could think of.
6. Cafe C
A cozy, small pub with a fun atmosphere, Cafe C is the perfect place to meet up with a friend for an espresso, or host a small get-together during their after hours. Bonus-they also deliver so you can have your fav breakfast foods in bed.
7. 43rd Street Deli and Breakfast House
The 43rd Street Deli & Breakfast House has “the most diverse breakfast menu in Northern Florida.” Dying to try sweet potato pancakes? This breakfast house has got you covered. From elaborate and creative pancake choices to simple Greek omelettes, everyone is guaranteed to find a breakfast menu they like.
8. Leonardo’s706
The guys who own 706 know what they’re doing–they own Leonardo’s By the Slice and Bistro 1245 as well. Known throughout Gainesville as having the best Caesar salad (it’s so beyond true), Leonardo’s 706 does brunch the right way with a house-made brunch punch and complimentary plate of muffins, international buffet, and classic favorites like Benedicts, omelettes, and organic blueberry French toast.
9. Boca Fiesta
A bad word has never been said about the beloved Boca, and the same goes for its brunch. An eclectic fusion of Mexican food (BREAKFAST. TACOS.) and traditional yummies like the fried egg sandwich, the Boca Fiesta brunch menu is sure to please anyone. The best part? DRANKS. $10 will buy you your own personal bottle of champagne and juice (that’s about 6 mimosas, FYI), while $7 gets you unlimited access to the Bloody Mary bar up front. Praise the Lawd.
10. The Jones
There’s nothing quite like eating brunch out on the veranda at The Jones. For something classic, try the Jones Anticristo, a spin on the traditional Montecristo sandwich, or for something a little more adventurous, try a salmon omelette.
11. Emiliano’s Cafe
As if one brunch menu wasn’t enough, Emiliano’s has a separate menu for their Saturday and Sunday brunch. If you’re looking for something sweet, try the Guava-Strawberry Crepes, or if you’re leaning towards the savory side, try the Mojo Pork Benedict (it has pulled pork, fried plantains and avocado–a triple threat in my mind). Prepare yourself to leave here with an overly full stomach and the need to take a nap immediately after leaving.
12. Bagels Unlimited
With fast service, huge portions and low prices, Bagels Unlimited gives you a bang for your buck. A typical meal here consists of eggs any way you want, stringy and crispy hash browns, and a side of any of the following–a bagel, biscuit, croissant, bacon, etc.
