Uber has changed the way we drive and now UberEATS is going to change the way we dine. UberEATs is Uber's new food delivery platform, which makes getting great food from your favorite local restaurants as easy as requesting a ride.

UberEATs launched in Baltimore on Thursday, September 8th, and is already making it easier for Hopkins students to munch on Baltimore's finest. For a short time, there will be no delivery charge so you can try those doughssants from B.Doughnut without having to drag yourself out of bed at 7:45am. Yes, the doughssants really are that good.

With a large delivery radius, sweets from Sofi's Crepes and Dangerously Delicious Pies, as well as savory dishes from Grano Pasta Bar, Cava Mezze, and Birroteca are practically at your fingertips and can be easily delivered to your doorstep. Less stringent car restrictions allow for even more Uber drivers to participate in this new service. UberEATS is the perfect combination of the 24/7 service you love with the foods you've always wanted to try.

Spoon University at Johns Hopkins had the honor of testing out UberEATs before its official launch and our expectations were exceeded on every front.

After much deliberation, we decided on Sticky Rice, located in the heart of Fells Point. On a whim, we opted for some of their more popular items: edamame, gyoza, and the sushi burrito.

The whole process could not have gone smoother. Similar to calling a car through Uber, we could track the service from the moment the driver picked up our order at the restaurant up until the moment they reached our front door.  However, unlike calling a car, there was no surge pricing.

Baltimore houses a crowded market with new restaurants continually opening and more delivery services than we know what to do with. Amazon, GrubHub, OrderUP, Postmates, and Eat24 all continue to grow locally. However with Uber's strong presence in Baltimore, its transition to delivering food just feels natural. Next time you find yourself ordering out, we highly suggest you try UberEATS.
