Indian cuisine is great for evenings when you need to whip-up a quick but flavorful meal. Not only do frequently-used spices like curry, cumin, cardamom and turmeric have numerous health benefits, but they also maintain their flavor well in leftovers and will fill your kitchen with a fabulous aroma.

Usually I pair brown or white basmati rice (boiled with a cinnamon stick to add a bit of flavor), with vegetable curry or chana masala, topped with fresh cilantro, toasted cashews, and a squeeze of lime. If you’re cooking for a group or have a bit of extra time, homemade naan is a great accompaniment that’s guaranteed to impress both dinner guests and yourself.

Tip: Naan only takes a few minutes to cook on the stove, and the dough can be made in advance and frozen for future meals.
