Artisana Organics is a California-based company that crafts natural seed and nut butters and cacao spreads. They are committed to empowering small family farms and offering  high quality food.

Artisana products are free of peanuts, gluten, dairy, preservatives, artificial flavors, and added oils and salt. In 2013, they were featured on Fortune's list of the 500 Fastest Growing Companies, and for good reason.

The Products

coffee, chocolate, candy

The nut butter flavors include almond, cashew, pecan, and walnut. These can be eaten on toast, with fruit, in smoothies, and of course straight out of the jar. Artisana also takes pride in their tahini, a traditionally Middle-Eastern sesame superfood that tastes great on salads.

The cacao spreads are flavored with coconut, sunflower, cashew, and hazelnut. On Artisana's website, you can find ways to use their products in everything from sweet cacao pecan granola bars to savory beef satay skewers with habanero macadamia butter sauce

Fiber-filled coconut butter is similar to other nut butters and can be drizzled on fresh fruit or used in baking. Artisana's coconut oil has a ton of practical uses.

The Verdict

If these photos have your mouth watering (hint: they should), you can buy Artisana products on their website, at Whole Foods, and at local organic markets.

The on-the-go packs are the perfect size to spread on fruit or toast. The nut butters have that creamy consistency I look for and taste natural rather than oily and processed.

I especially enjoyed the flavorful almond and walnut butters, and the raw coconut cacao makes a great gourmet dessert. I recommend picking up a variety of products. The more Artisana you can sample, the better.
