As college students, we’ve all been there. Having a million things to do, yet the only thing on our minds is food. I’m one of those people that tends to eat my heart out whenever I’m super stressed. While I wrote this, I was sitting in the library eating heaping spoonfuls of peanut butter straight from the jar. It was midterm season and I had zero motivation to do anything except eat.
Luckily, us stress eaters are not alone. America’s favorite reality TV stars from “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” also think about food 24/7 as well. Their reactions and feelings toward food and feeling unmotivated definitely speak to any stress eater.
1. Too broke af to buy something good
When you’re stressed, you totally deserve to treat yourself to something nice. That cool new bakery on the corner? Or how about that organic ice cream place? Then you realize you’re broke. Looks like it’s gonna be $1 chips, cookies, and candy. Thank you, vending machine.
2. Eating healthy when you’re stressed out
When parents, teachers, and doctors tell you to eat healthy when you’re stressed. Uh, no. That’s why desserts is stressed spelled backwards, duh.
3. Just thinking about food in class and your stomach rumbles
I swear that wasn’t me, that was my stomach. If you’re smart, you’ll sneak one of these snacks into class.
4. When you’re the happiest person after finding more food
Wait! You just remembered grandma sent you a care package that you totally forgot about. You might’ve spent the $20 she sent, but at least you’re four candy bars richer.
5. Putting your favorite topping on everything
Choose your weapon. Nutella? Peanut Butter? How about both?
6. Carbs = bae
All you care about are 3 things — chocolate, pizza, and cookies. Who needs a significant other when you have carbs?
7. All you wanna do is sleep and eat
My life motto is the three N’s — Nutella, Netflix, and naps.
8. Working out while you’re stressed
When people say you’re supposed to exercise to relieve stress. Nope, I’m allergic to exercise.
9. Beginning to question your existence
When you ate so much and feel like you hit rock bottom. You start to think all philosophical and shizz. Why am I here? Am I even useful? Why can’t I just drop out of school? Sometimes the answers to those questions is even more food.
10. When people try to talk to you and you’re really not in the mood
These people need to leave me alone in my little world so I can eat in peace.
But in the end, all this stress will pass cause we’re all beautiful and intelligent p9eople. While stress eating, especially around midterms or finals, may not hurt you, it should not turn into a long term habit.
Stay beautimous everyone.
