People love food. People love to watch movies. Why not combine these two passions with good food movies?
If your day starts with kebab and ends with tikka, if you dream about lasagna and risottos all day, and if you find the love of your life when you look at pizza every time, then you are a true foodie like me.
If you are eagerly waiting for the release of Logan, if you loved La La land and are humming City Of Stars and if you are counting the minutes left for when the movies take home the Oscars, then you are a true movie freak like me.
We roll out the red carpet for reel restaurants, appetising action and mealy movies in this list of the best food films ever made :
1) CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS (2009)
Well-meaning inventor Flint Lockwood creates a gadget that turns water into food – and before long it's raining cheeseburgers, spaghetti and chicken. Which sounds like a good thing to us, so basically all our childhood—ok, adulthood—dreams come true, but before long he's having to tangle with food tornadoes and a giant sentient meatball.
2) Julie & Julia (2009)
The drool-worthy retelling of one woman’s attempt to cook through Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Start watching for the food, keep watching for Meryl Streep.
3) No Reservations
Manhattan master chef Kate (Zeta-Jones) has no life outside her kitchen kingdom. When she becomes guardian of her orphan niece (Breslin), she struggles to relate to the child, while dynamic new sous chef Nick (Eckhart) threatens to usurp her domain. If this isn't a recipe for love then we don't know what is.
4) Ratatouille
When the animation gods at Pixar released the tale of a rat named Remy who turns the Parisian culinary world on its head, Anthony Bourdain called it "the best restaurant movie ever made". He wasn't wrong. This movie will inspire and encourage you to cook, if you don’t already. If a rat can cook, you can definitely do better than Maggi.
5) Chef
Open your food truck, be your own boss, make awesome food, feel happy. This movie will give you restaurant/food truck goals if you have ever planned to open one of your own.
6) Waitress (2007)
A waitress at a small town restaurant finds her calling and life in making exquisite, mouth-watering, visually-saturating pies. This movie is heaven for the pie lover.
7) Big Night
Two brothers running a failing Italian restaurant decide to save their pancetta, quite literally, by gambling the business on one Big Night. This story will definitely have you craving for some good Italian food by the end of it.
A man is asked to sample some of the finest food in Italy, and when his girlfriend backs out last minute, he asks his friend-of-sorts to give him company while he makes the viewers travel his culinary journey.
9) The Lunchbox
Its a must watch for every Indian as we all need to know the sweet story of how two strangers connect and share their lives, all over a wrongly delivered lunchbox.
