Audience Development Manager

We’re looking for a rockstar Audience Development Manager who’s passionate about experimentation, gets excited by creative opportunities and has the utmost respect for analytics.

Our ideal candidate has a background in editorial and growth marketing and understands how food and culture intersect across platforms. This person is bullish on hitting traffic and audience goals, and aims to push our digital strategies to stay ahead of the curve. An ideal candidate doesn’t necessarily check every box, but is passionate and knowledgeable about those they do.

The Audience Development Manager will work closely with our Director of Audience Development, Managing Editor, Social Media Manager and Video Team to grow our overall digital presence, using levers like organic and paid social media, email, syndication deals, partnerships, SEO, sweepstakes and more to develop our community. They will be crucial in executing growth and marketing campaigns at every level.

Potential Responsibilities:

  • Build the Spoon brand through unique social campaigns aimed at building a strong, young audience

  • Help manage our overall social media strategy with a focus on driving site traffic and video views

  • Execute and optimize our email marketing strategy to transform newsletters into a traffic-driving powerhouse

  • Maintain partnerships and vet new cross-channel partners

  • Analyze performance across digital channels and report daily/weekly

  • Build brand loyalty through conversion techniques and create return visitors

  • Help inform and report on the editorial SEO strategy

  • Identify new areas for social, editorial and video to grow reach across platforms

  • Identify and experiment with potential new sources of traffic and views


  • 3-5 years experience in a marketing/audience development role (experience in media/editorial/food content fields is a huge plus)

  • Experience with digital marketing tactics and conversion techniques

  • Some experience with SEO, preferably with link building initiatives

  • Has an eye for data and knows how to build strategy based on data

  • Superb writing and communication skills

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and adapt to a flexible and fast-paced environment

  • A strong social media presence is a BIG plus, especially on Instagram
