College is an exciting adventure. Although it can take some time to get adjusted to your freshman year of college, by the end of the spring semester you likely won't want to come home (sorry Mom & Dad)! I had lots of different emotions inside of me as my freshman year came to a close.

How did it go by so fast? It seems like just yesterday I was at Bed Bath & Beyond picking out my Twin XL comforter for my dorm room. I somehow moved in and out of my temporary home one heck of a year ago.

As summer approached, it didn't feel the same as it used to. Unlike grade school, college kids don't count down the days until summer. Some kids dreaded it. Spending three months away from friends you just became close to can be tough. Plus, having a job or internships means there's not a lot of free time for naps.

I was responsible for myself. Laundry, sleep and being on top of school work. Obviously Mom and Dad helped me get to where I was so I talked to them daily. It was so fun to share the little things with them, which for me was every single thing I ate each day. To each their own, right?

I am so grateful for the opportunity to go to college. I made the most of my freshman year and would not have changed a thing if I could. Learning took place inside and outside of the classroom. People were friendly and I met really cool, kind people.

Most freshmen finish the year anxious...to get back to campus and start round two. I'm looking forward to picking up where I left off. Three. More. Years. It is crazy that each year will go by even faster.

Even if some days seem to go by slowly, the year feels short looking back on it. My advice to rising freshmen is to enjoy every second and take advantage of every opportunity. You'll be glad you did.
